Computer/Information Science

The computer technology field is experiencing rapid growth. According to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment in computer systems design and related services will grow by 39.5 percent by 2014, which is a faster rate of growth than other industries. The information sector, which comprises software publishing, internet publishing and telecommunication, is projected to have 212,000 new jobs by 2016. This is due to the increasing reliance of businesses on information technology and the importance of maintaining system and network security. There are a number of job roles related to computer and information science degrees and as every sector requires technology to function, jobs can be found across a wide variety of industries, both public and private.
