AI for Advanced Job Support Series – 5: Writing Cover Letters That Tell Your Story
By this point you starting to understand that cover letters are expected, but they feel like such a waste of time. Maybe you copy and paste the same template over and over. Or maybe you write something very detailed, as if you’re just restating your resume in paragraph form. And maybe you tried to use AI for help, but the results feel empty and obviously AI generated. Regardless, the interview invites aren’t coming.
Join this workshop to learn how to write cover letters that do what resumes can’t: explain why you, why now, why this company. You’ll learn research strategies that support letter writing AND interview preparation, how to connect your professional identity to the organization’s needs, and how to sound like you, not an AI. We’ll see where AI can help and hinder this process, and you’ll walk away knowing how to write a tailored cover letter for any job.

This is the fifth workshop in the AI for Advanced Job Support Series. This series teaches you to build a complete job search approach using AI as a strategic thinking partner rather than just something that makes what you tell it to. You’ll learn the Four Pillars framework and see different ways to apply it ethically and effectively within your career. Each workshop builds on the Career Bio created in the first workshop of this series, Finding Your Professional Identity, using the Career Bio as a foundation to develop targeted strategies, application materials, and interview approaches. Workshops can be taken in any order, but they’re designed to be taken sequentially.
If you completed Workshop 1, your Career Bio will guide this entire process and make it more customized to your unique background. If not, you can still participate— but Finding Your Professional Identity runs every two weeks and teaches the foundational skills that make this and other workshops more efficient and personalized. Check the calendar for upcoming sessions.
