Grad Career Summit: Job Searching During COVID-19: From Stress and Panic to Action and Success

Sep 24 • 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Job searching is a stressful process, and looking for a job amidst the chaos and uncertainty of Covid-19 is even more stressful. Some questions you might be asking are:

“”Is it even real to find a job during this crisis? Maybe, it’s better to put off my job search till things get a little more stable…””
“”I’m applying for jobs and don’t get any response. I think it’s because of COVID-19!””
“”What if I don’t find a job? What if I find a job that has nothing to do with my career plans?””
“”I am not ready to apply for a job right now. Will that impact my career?””
“”I know I should be doing all this job search stuff, but I just can’t make myself do this. I feel too overwhelmed and stressed out (so I’ll be gaming and Netflixing).””

If any of this sounds familiar, you might find our workshop useful.

Here is what we are going to discuss:

1. How to decide whether you should start your job search right now or postpone until most of the businesses are open.
2. How to adjust your job search strategy to maximize your chances to find a job during the quarantine.
3. How to get the most of your quarantine time if you are not ready to apply for a job right now.
4. How to motivate yourself to do what is necessary for your career if you feel overwhelmed and anxious (and already have a lot on your plate!)
