INTL: Improv for Interviews: Think on Your Feet When It Matters Most

Feb 4 • 12:00 pm - 1:15 pm

You’ve practiced your STAR stories and researched the company, but then the interviewer asks something you didn’t prepare for—and you freeze. In a tough job market, that moment of panic can cost you the offer. The difference between candidates who get jobs and those who don’t often comes down to how they handle the unexpected: the curveball question, the awkward silence, the moment when your rehearsed answer doesn’t quite fit.
This workshop uses improv techniques to train the skills that matter most when you’re under pressure: thinking clearly in real-time, listening actively instead of waiting for your turn to talk, and recovering gracefully when you don’t know the answer. Through interactive exercises and low-pressure games, you’ll practice responding to unexpected questions with composure, building compelling narratives about your experience on the spot, and reading the room so you can adjust in the moment. You’ll learn the “”Yes, and…”” mindset that turns into opportunities and how to project confidence naturally through body language and presence. This is hands-on—you’ll be up, moving, and practicing the exact situations that trip people up in real interviews.

This is in person- Egan Center, Room 440, Feb. 4, 12:00-1:00 pm EST
This workshop is for graduating seniors and graduate students who want to walk into interviews ready for anything, not just the questions they practiced. Bring your willingness to play, take creative risks, and step outside your comfort zone in a supportive space.
