Northeastern is committed to supporting a diverse population of international students, providing dedicated support resources.
International students are eligible to participate in co-op, though must follow certain requirements and processes to be approved. Northeastern’s Office of Global Services works with international students to provide information on obtaining authorization to complete a co-op experience in the U.S. F-1 students require Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and J-1 Students require Academic Training (AT) in order to be approved to work in the United States. With authorization, students can work full-time, part-time, or hybrid (a mix of in-person and remote).
Alongside the Office of Global Services, Global Student Success (GSS) is an office dedicated to helping international and multilingual students, scholars, faculty and staff, at Northeastern through a variety of services and resources.
Additional information about specific requirements for international students on co-op can be found in both the undergraduate and graduate student handbooks, available on the Co-op Policies page.
