MCode (formerly TruMotivate): Discover What Drives You

Deciding what to do in your career goes beyond choosing a major. Something motivates your work when no one else is looking, and figuring out what that is can help you ensure your career is a great fit.

MCode is an assessment designed to help you uncover what drives you: your core motivations, the type of work environment where you thrive, and how to recognize a good fit when you see it.

This 20-minute self-assessment helps you understand:

  • What naturally motivates you (impact, autonomy, learning, achievement, or something else)
  • Whether you thrive with structure or flexibility, collaboration or independent work, competitive or cooperative settings
  • Which work conditions might drain you or make you less productive
  • How your drivers connect to specific jobs, industries, and companies

Knowing what drives you helps you:

  • Evaluate whether a job creates the conditions you need to excel
  • Make decisions about co-op placements and full-time roles that you’ll love
  • Stay engaged and motivated because your work aligns with what matters to you
  • Communicate in interviews why this position makes sense for how you work

How to Start

  1. Take the MCode assessment (about 20 minutes)
  1. Review your results to understand your drivers and relevant career options
