At Britt & Company CPA LLC we hire co-op students for two internships positions to assist us during our most busy time of our business cycle (Tax Season).We recruit for a Junior Tax Analyst Position and an Administrative Internship Position annually; we regularly keep candidates on our staff into the summer months (following tax season). We frequently sign on interns for salaried positions with our firm.The two positions can be described in the following manner:Junior Tax Analyst Great introduction to public accounting, experience a real plus for any resume.-Assist in all aspects in the preparation of individual and corporate income tax returns.-Analyze clients’ financial transactions to determine accuracy and identify tax related issues.-Assist in the preparation of financial statements including compilations and reviews utilizing state of the art write up/trial balance software.-Become familiar with Quickbooks, Peachtree, Ultratax and Practice CS.-Assist in all other daily operations of a busy accounting office. Some administrative tasks as well.All worked to be performed on networked PCs. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word required. Experience with Ultra tax, CCH Prosystem fx engagement software a plus. Strong client communication skills a plus.
Administrative Internship Position
Reception:
· Answer the phone with a smile. The person on the phone should be able to know from your voice that you are smiling, and that your attention is on them.· Kindly greeting all clients and visitors. Offering refreshments or anything else to make them feel comfortable while they wait.
Handle as many phone inquiries from clients, without interrupting owner/billable staff, where possible e.g. any issues with accessing the portal, wanting a copy of prior year returns, scheduling an appointment etc.
Assembling/delivery/e-Filing/mailing:
· Assembling/fling of tax returns· Ensure no return is filed or handed over to client without payment· Handle filing rejections as necessary, and with the assistance of the CPA when needed.
Operations:
· To assist in the managing of the internal operations of the CPA practice for the owner which will free him up to focus on client’s financial needs e.g. assist office manager in tracking all work in the office to ensure that the appropriate team members are aware of due dates/priorities to deliver the work to clients.· Be mindful of the implementation of utilizing new systems (or revamping the current ones), documenting processes and streamlining how things are done to save time; it is never too late to reconsider an approach on systems throughout the firm.· Assist accountants to get information needed from clients to complete their work.
