sheLEADS: Women In Leadership – GLOBAL (12 – 1:00 p.m. EDT)

Feb 8 • 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Are you interested in learning about leadership? sheLEADS: Women in Leadership is a series organized by Career Design comprised of sessions specifically focused on individuals who identify as female and who have secured leadership roles within a variety of career fields.
Each session will feature a guest speaker or speakers from a specific industry or career field who will discuss their career path(s), how they were able to overcome obstacles to rise in the ranks, and provide suggestions and advice to those who are interested in taking on leadership roles. There will be a dedicated portion of this session to student Q & A.

This session is focused on Start-ups/Entrepreneurship, and you will learn about how our guest speakers, Jessi Flynn, Co-Founder of Kweza Brewery and Tapiwa Charosa, Brewer, have been involved in starting up the first all women owned Craft Brewery in Rwanda.

Kweza was started through a Kickstarter campaign in 2016 by Fina Uwineza, a Rwandan entrepreneur, and Steve Beauchesne, CEO of Beau’s Brewery, with the vision to create a women-owned and women-led craft brewery.

Today, Kweza continues to honor the tradition of beer. In Rwanda, and most cultures around the world, women have traditionally made beer but not been able to benefit from that creation and lineage at the commercial level. Kweza aims to have women running all aspects of the business and to enable African women to share in the profit of the product they’ve historically always made – as investors, staff, or leadership – and ultimately build generational wealth on that history.
If you are interested in leadership, attend this session to learn about strategies to be successful in taking on leadership roles.

We look forward to seeing you there!
